Our company is looking for a Copy Editor to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Apply Customer’s style specifications;
- Maintain Consistency and quality throughout the Content;
- Prepare / assist in preparing style sheets / style guides whenever required;
- Must be able to correct the spellings and grammatical mistakes and enable a free flow of the topics thought;
- Responsible for enhancing authors content to improve the overall readability and accuracy of research articles;
- Amend Grammatical Errors;
- Must be able and capable enough to rewrite a badly written or unclear work;
- Evaluate and edit manuscripts or other materials submitted for publication and confer with authors regarding changes in content and style aspects;
- Up-to-date knowledge on language requirements based on various style manuals and apply standard best practices while editing content for style;
- Must verify the authenticity of the work;
- Timely Completion of day to day norms;
- Ensure the text is in line with the publisher’s ‘house style’;
- Checking for facts / inconsistencies in the content and raise queries to authors and publishers to ensure quality and accuracy;

Requirements:
- Should be able to read through the manuscript thoroughly, identify inconsistencies and correct it with the consensus of the author;
- A flair for reading and writing;
- Excellent command over English language (written as well as verbal);
- Ability to understand the editorial workflow and copy edit the content in line with the customer’s expectations;
- Exceptional English communication / writing skills and passion for reading and writing;
- A prior experience in editing print media would prove beneficial;
- Hands-on experience / exposure to various style guides and language specifications / requirements;
- A Bachelors or Masters in any discipline;
- Should have an eye for detail and high level of commitment for accuracy;
- Demonstrated capabilities of consistency and quality throughout the editing process and meet specified deadlines with high quality;
- Ability to coordinate and work as a team;
- At least 2 years of experience in copy editing / language editing of books or journals with any reputed publisher with high emphasis on quality.
