The Payroll Specialist II is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring all aspects of the payroll cycle—including taxes, benefits, garnishments, and payments—are processed, reconciled, audited, and transmitted accurately and on time. The role requires maintaining high-quality standards, minimizing errors, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and Dayforce contractual obligations.
What You'll Get To Do
Process payroll-related changes, tax forms, and payments accurately and within defined timelines for assigned clients.
Ensure all payroll activities are audited and reconciled to maintain a low defect rate and high accuracy.
Manage and resolve client payroll issues and employee inquiries by collaborating with cross-functional internal teams.
Deliver payroll services in alignment with Dayforce contracts, business requirements, and applicable legislation.
Maintain and update case management systems, ensuring all client-related documentation is complete, accurate, and timely.
Drive customer satisfaction by providing high-quality service and proactive support.
Monitor and adhere to SLA metrics, ensuring all deliverables are met within defined timelines.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute proactively to operational efficiency.
Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required.
Support quarterly and year-end payroll activities, including auditing and processing.
Perform administrative tasks and monthly tax reconciliations (Canada & US payroll).
Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth payroll operations.
Skills And Experience We Value
- 2.5 to 4.5 years of payroll experience, with exposure to US and Canada payroll.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, taxation, benefits, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet strict deadlines and SLA commitments.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ownership mindset ('I own it' attitude) toward tasks and deliverables.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Dayforce or similar cloud-based payroll systems is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work between 8 AM – 6 PM EST based on business needs.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
