Core Responsibilities

The VFX Supervisor role at Identical Brains is a 360-degree leadership position covering the entire project lifecycle.

1. Pre-Production & On-Set Supervision

• Conceptualization: Collaborate with Directors and Producers during the early stages to break down scripts and offer creative solutions for complex shots.

• On-Set Leadership: Act as the primary studio representative on set, ensuring that all data (HDRIs, camera metadata, grey/chrome ball references) is captured accurately to facilitate a smooth post-production process.

• Technical Consulting: Advise on practical versus digital effects to maximize the production budget without compromising visual quality.

2. Production Leadership & Guidance

• Team Mentorship: Lead, inspire, and guide the compositing, 3D, and production departments. You will be responsible for the professional growth of our mid and junior-level artists.

• Workflow Management: Review “dailies” and provide clear, actionable feedback to artists to ensure the creative vision is met on the first or second pass.

• Quality Assurance: Maintain a rigorous standard of excellence, ensuring every frame that leaves the studio meets the Identical Brains hallmark of quality.

3. Client & Departmental Coordination

• Client Relations: Serve as the technical point of contact for clients, translating their creative desires into technical instructions for the internal team.

• Inter-departmental Synergy: Work closely with the Pipeline and IT teams to identify any bottlenecks in the production software and suggest optimizations to increase throughput.

Essential Skills and Experience

We are looking for a candidate who is already a recognized name in the VFX community or a Senior Lead ready to step into a definitive Supervisor role.

• Industry Tenure: Minimum of 8–10+ years in the VFX industry, with at least 2–3 years specifically in a supervisory or lead capacity.

• Technical Mastery: Deep, “under-the-hood” knowledge of compositing workflows (primarily Nuke ) and a strong understanding of 3D pipelines (Maya, Houdini, Unreal Engine).

• Leadership Prowess: A proven ability to manage large teams under tight deadlines while maintaining a calm, solution-oriented demeanor.

• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi to effectively interface with both international clients and local artists.

• Problem Solving: The ability to look at a “broken” shot or a failing pipeline and immediately identify the most efficient creative and technical fix.
