Senior Performance Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define and execute performance testing strategies for Identity Management products and services.
• Plan and run holistic load, scalability, endurance, stress, reliability, regression, baseline, and benchmark tests.
• Analyze performance metrics and results, identify trends and trade-offs, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot, isolate, and perform root-cause analysis on end-to-end performance and reliability issues.
• Coordinate fixes with engineering teams and verify that performance risks are resolved through completion.
• Perform Java application profiling, stack tuning, memory analysis, and optimization.
• Determine performance configurations, capacity plans, and resource sizing across virtualized and containerized environments.
• Improve performance-test automation and contribute to continuous-integration workflows.
• Maintain documentation for performance testing, tuning, capacity planning, troubleshooting, and results.
• Own performance responsibilities across design, development, testing, deployment, release, and operations.
• Participate in customer engagements, technical escalations, onboarding, and customer-like performance investigations.
• Provide technical leadership on small initiatives, mentor engineers, and improve team processes.

Requirements

• Proven experience developing and executing comprehensive performance tests, including load, scalability, endurance, stress, reliability, regression, baseline, and benchmark testing.
• Experience planning and executing holistic system performance testing independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting, isolation, and root-cause analysis abilities for end-to-end performance and reliability issues.
• Experience with load-generation, measurement, observability, monitoring, and profiling tools.
• Ability to write performance tests and automation in Python, Java, Scala, Go, or a comparable language.
• Experience performance-testing LDAP, Java, web, and distributed applications in regional, cloud, or hybrid deployments.
• Experience with load balancing, network behavior, environment troubleshooting, and configuration analysis.
• Experience with Java stack tuning, profiling, debugging, optimization, JVM internals, garbage collection, and memory management.
• Understanding of software engineering practices, design patterns, automation, maintainable test development, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, and distributed-service protocols.
• Experience running large-scale performance tests in cloud environments, especially Kubernetes.
• Cloud development and automation experience using virtual machines, containers, and infrastructure or deployment automation.
• At least 5 years of software development experience, including substantial Java experience.
• At least 5 years of performance engineering or closely related experience.
• Experience with identity and access management standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and WebAuthn.
• Demonstrated collaboration, mentoring, technical leadership, independent ownership, and clear communication skills.
• Preferred experience with Gatling, JMeter, Kubernetes, GKE, AWS, production-like Java profiling and optimization, AI-assisted performance testing, and broad troubleshooting or capacity-planning documentation.
