Tax Specialist

As a U.S. Tax Reviewer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of federal and state income tax returns for a diverse portfolio of clients, including individuals, estates, and exempt organizations. This position requires a strong understanding of U.S. tax laws, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and mentor a team of tax preparers. You will be responsible for upholding client-specific requirements, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the tax review process.

Tax Review & Compliance

• Review federal and state income tax returns for Individuals (1040), Estates & Trusts (1041), Partnerships (1065), and Corporations (1120/1120S) .
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with current U.S. tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
• Identify and resolve complex tax issues related to individual, partnership, trust, and corporate taxation.

Team Guidance & Support

• Provide technical guidance and support to tax preparers, particularly on complex tax matters involving individual, partnership, trust, and corporate returns.
• Conduct induction and ongoing training sessions, including updates on tax legislation, software applications, and process improvements.

Work Allocation & Monitoring

• Assign daily tasks to preparers and reviewers and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Follow up on pending work, address bottlenecks, and ensure adherence to deadlines and quality standards.

Client Deliverables

• Review and submit completed tax returns and supporting documentation within established timelines.
• Review client comments, incorporate feedback, and ensure timely resubmission of revised returns.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to obtain necessary information and resolve tax-related queries.

Project Execution

• Contribute to departmental and organizational projects as required.
• Adapt quickly to changes in client processes, tax regulations, and software platforms, and effectively communicate updates to the team.

Quality & Compliance

• Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with information security requirements, data privacy guidelines, and regulatory obligations.
• Maintain high-quality standards through thorough review and documentation practices.

Staff Development

• Mentor, coach, and train team members to strengthen technical expertise and professional skills.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment focused on continuous learning and development.

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Accounting/Finance with 4-6 years of experience in U.S. Taxation .
• Hands-on experience in preparing and/or reviewing 1040, 1041, 1065, and 1120/1120S tax returns .
• Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws, tax concepts, accounting principles, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in tax software such as GoSystem, CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Lacerte, ProSeries, or Drake Tax ; SPBinder knowledge is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to review complex tax returns.
• Proven ability to mentor team members, manage workloads, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and Microsoft Office skills; CA, CPA, EA, B.Com, or M.Com preferred.
