Billing Assistant PART TIME

We are currently seeking an experienced Billing Specialist (Part-Time) to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the complete billing lifecycle, behavioral health billing practices, and insurance claims management . This role requires candidates to be local and able to attend in-office meetings when required .

Key Responsibilities

Manage the entire billing lifecycle , including invoicing, claim submission, payment posting, and collections using the Central Reach platform .

Provide administrative and billing support to internal staff and therapists.

Identify billing inconsistencies and provide guidance on claims processing and corrections .

Process insurance payments and perform necessary billing adjustments .

Work directly with insurance companies to ensure claims are approved and payments are processed correctly.

Review and resolve denied claims , including follow-up with insurers and claim resubmission.

Interpret and process EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) files .

Apply and maintain knowledge of behavioral health billing codes and compliance standards .

Maintain and update fee schedules in billing software as required.

Monitor and follow up on aging receivables to ensure timely payment.

Communicate with families regarding outstanding balances through email, text, or phone calls.

Verify insurance eligibility , determine coverage periods, and update changes in electronic records.

Generate and deliver billing and collection reports as requested by management.

Review remittance advice and claim payment details to ensure accuracy.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum 2+ years of medical or behavioral health billing experience (8+ years preferred for senior-level applicants).

Experience with Central Reach billing system is highly preferred.

Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 / ICD-10 coding systems .

Understanding of insurance claims processing, denial management, and remittance posting .

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word .

Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills for coordination with families, insurance providers, and internal staff .
