Summary:
We are seeking dedicated and responsible Livestock Drivers. This role is critical in ensuring the safe humane and compliant transport of live animalssuch as sheep cattle and pigsbetween farms processing facilities markets and other destinations. The successful candidate will play a key role in upholding animal welfare standards maintaining vehicle and containment equipment and adhering to strict biosecurity and road safety regulations. With a focus on professionalism reliability and care for livestock this position demands a strong work ethic physical stamina and a commitment to operational excellence in challenging and variable conditions.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate trucks and trailers designed for livestock transport.
Load and unload animals with care ensuring proper securing and minimal stress or injury.
Monitor animal welfare during transit including access to water ventilation and rest as needed.
Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles and containment equipment; perform routine cleaning and maintenance.
Maintain accurate records of journeys livestock counts loading/unloading times and any incidents.
Comply with all relevant legislation including road transport laws animal welfare acts and biosecurity protocols.
Uphold hygiene standards to prevent disease spread through regular cleaning of pens and transport containers.
Communicate effectively with farm owners abattoirs markets and other stakeholders.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Valid drivers licence for the required vehicle and trailer class.
- Clean driving record with a history of safe and responsible driving.
- Certifications or endorsements specific to livestock transport (as applicable).
- Formal training or certifications in animal welfare biosecurity or livestock handling (preferred).
- 3 years experience in driving heavy vehicles particularly in agricultural or livestock transport.
- Demonstrated experience in handling live animals safely and humanely.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks such as loading/unloading even in adverse weather or difficult terrain.
- Strong organisational skills punctuality and reliability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
- In-depth awareness of health safety biosecurity and road transport regulations.
- English Certificate (PTE / IELTS) is mandatory.
Required Skills:
