About The Opportunity
We are engaging a network of premium eye-care centres to expand on-site surgical and outpatient capacity across India. This visiting consultant role offers high-volume clinical exposure, access to modern diagnostics (OCT, Fundus camera, laser suites) and a platform to deliver evidence-based surgical care for cataract, retinal and glaucoma patients.
Role & Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive outpatient assessment and management for cataract, retinal and glaucoma patients in scheduled clinic sessions.
Perform on-site surgical procedures including phacoemulsification cataract surgery, retinal interventions and glaucoma surgeries as appropriate.
Interpret diagnostic imaging (OCT, FFA, B-scan) and formulate treatment plans including intravitreal injections and laser procedures.
Coordinate pre-op evaluation, peri-operative care and post-op follow-up to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Collaborate with optometrists, nursing staff and administrative teams to maintain clinic workflows, surgical lists and documentation.
Contribute to quality assurance: maintain accurate clinical records, participate in morbidity reviews and support infection-control protocols.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
MS / DOMS or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology
Demonstrated experience in phacoemulsification cataract surgery
Experience in retina procedures: intravitreal injections, laser photocoagulation; familiarity with vitrectomy
Proficiency in glaucoma management and common glaucoma surgeries
Strong diagnostic skills: slit lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, OCT interpretation
Valid registration with the appropriate medical council and eligibility to practise in India
Preferred
Fellowship or formal training in vitreoretinal or glaucoma subspecialty
Experience working in high-volume surgical centres or visiting consultant roles
Familiarity with electronic medical records and digital imaging workflows
