Principal Process Engineering Specialist

Seeking a skilled Principal Image Processing Engineer to spearhead the development of a high-performance image processing pipeline for optical sensors, utilizing advanced algorithms and leading a team of junior and mid-level engineers for precise, real-time analysis.
KaleidEO is investing to launch its fleet of earth observation satellites. SatSure is a deep tech, decision Intelligence company that works primarily at the nexus of agriculture, infrastructure, and climate action creating an impact for the other millions, focusing on the developing world. The synergy of KaleidEO and SatSure aims to bring a new dimension to the earth observation industry by being the only full-stack company from India, to have satellites in space to deliver insights on the ground.

As a Principal Image Processing Engineer at KaleidEO, you will architect and lead development of radiometric and geometric correction pipelines for our optical Earth observation payloads, working from raw sensor data to science-ready products. You will lead a team of image processing engineers and collaborate directly with optics, calibration, detector, and satellite systems teams to design, validate, and deploy production-grade processing chains.

You will work with data from space alongside former ISRO scientists and collaborate with the international satellite image processing community, contributing to standards development and best practices. Algorithm Design : Develop and optimize algorithms for radiometric calibration (dark current, flat-field, non-uniformity correction, noise reduction), geometric correction (orthorectification, sensor alignment, mosaicking), and atmospheric compensation.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with optics, detector, and electronics teams during payload development, calibration campaigns, and in-orbit commissioning.
Quality Control: Define image quality metrics (SNR, MTF, uniformity) and implement automated QA workflows.
Research & Innovation: Stay up-to-date on the latest advances in optical remote sensing, image processing technologies, and incorporate innovations into pipeline development.
in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Vision, or a related field.
~8+ years of experience in processing raw or minimally processed data from camera hardware on satellite/aerial/ or any imaging device - camera ISP development, focusing on optical sensor data.

Experience designing and optimizing image processing pipelines for optical imagery, particularly optical sensors (e.g., Strong fundamentals in sensor physics, optics, and signal processing (Fourier analysis, linear systems theory)
Proficiency in signal processing, image processing and computer vision algorithms (e.g., Expertise in programming skills like Python, C++, or MATLAB, with experience using image processing libraries (e.g., Experience with cloud-based processing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and distributed computing for large-scale data.
Experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex technical projects.

Exposure to sensor commissioning, calibration campaigns, or field validation activities
Experience working with hyperspectral data and advanced spectral analysis techniques.
Familiarity with international satellite data sources (e.g., MODIS, Pleiades, SPOT) and commercial data providers and the processing challenges associated with their data.
Familiarity with geospatial data formats and tools (e.g., Contributions to open-source remote sensing or image processing projects.
Knowledge of high-performance computing (HPC) environments or GPU-accelerated computing for image processing tasks.
