Sr. Technical Writer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Sr. Technical Writer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Self-starter with an ability to handle doc efforts for the projects independently;
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to produce content on a regular cadence for various releases;
- Produce conceptual material that explains technical concepts quickly and effectively to system administrators.
Requirements:
- Experience writing for cloud solutions;
- Experience writing for a systems administrator audience;
- Demonstrated work experience with source control/content management tools such as Git and Github;
- Ability to learn new technical concepts quickly and create audience-appropriate documentation;
- A track record of successfully working with cross-functional teams to deliver quality documentation;
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills;
- Experience using Linux (CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu, or SuSE);
- Must have a basic understanding of shell scripting;
- Experience with markup authoring languages such as DITA, XML, and structured authoring in general;
- Familiarity with Hadoop;
- Ability to collaborate with developers and other writers to reach solutions;
- Excellent planning and organizational skills;
- 8 – 10 years of technical writing experience supporting enterprise software, in the field of data storage, backup, and cloud environment;
- Excellent editing and proof-reading skills;
- Experience writing in an Agile environment.
