Embedded Software Engineer 5 – Segment Routing/EVPN/MPLS/BGP Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Embedded Software Engineer 5 – Segment Routing/EVPN/MPLS/BGP to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, design and develop advanced Routing/MPLS/Segment Routing, service features and capabilities in a switching/routing system;
- Work closely with key customers, particularly in India and the APAC region, to develop solutions that address their immediate and future needs;
- Work with Product Line Management team to assess strategic market directions and customer requirements;
- Deliver detailed functional requirements and influence technical designs for packet switching software architectures and network management;
- Present Ciena solutions to a variety of internal and external audiences, including senior management and technical/operational leads;
- Participate in product definition and architecture, and support engineering teams in design, scoping, planning, and implementation.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in architecting/designing and implementing carrier-grade IP/MPLS routing solutions on routers/switches;
- Exposure to Broadcom chipsets (especially DNX/XGS family) is desired;
- Deep knowledge of IP Routing (including BGP), L3VPN, Segment Routing and EVPN;
- Excellent inter-personal, written and verbal communication skills;
- Knowledge of TDM networks to packet transformation is desired;
- Appreciation of emerging trends in virtualization, disaggregation, software defined networking, and orchestration;
- Deep knowledge of MPLS protocols and deployments, especially MPLS-TP/MPLS-TE;
- Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and internal cross-functional teams and to work across geographies and time zones;
- Understanding of carrier Ethernet, including MEF services, QoS, and OAM.
