Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer consults with subject matter experts to provide course content and training curriculum. Designs and develops employee learning programs in align with organization goal and training needs. Being an Instructional Designer conducts assessment and analysis to identify new development needs and recommends training methods accordingly. Tracks employee performance and measures training outcomes. In addition, Instructional Designer requires a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to a manager. Being an Instructional Designer gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Working as an Instructional Designer typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Takes accountability and ownership of project assignments in his role;
  • Works with technical SMEs and/or attends pilot training and recommends adjustments to courseware to achieve desired learning outcomes;
  • Uses strong project management processes to ensure quality and timely completion of development projects;
  • Designs, authors, and edits and moderately complex, e-learning virtual, blended, and classroom curriculum;
  • Stays current in best practices, tools, and applications across the learning and training industry;
  • Partners with the business and subject matter experts to assess and customize training based on current and future needs.

Requirements:

  • Project management – basic;
  • Business and Technical acumen;
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience;
  • Content development;
  • Authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Lectora or Adapt;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • Graduate degree with 1-3 year’s experience in Instructional designing and eLearning development;
  • Storyboard writing;
  • Minimum 4 years experience as an Instructional or Curriculum Designer in IT;
  • Proficient in Articulate Storyline 2 and later OR similar rapid;
  • Instructional designing.
