GDF/AF - Middleware Product Owner - System Integration (EDI, SAP CPI) (M/F/D)

BASF’s Business Process Integration (BPI) team provides and supports digital solutions for B2B integrations with external partners through a variety of systems and processes within the BASF’s architectural landscape.  BPI is considered a strategic tool to digitalize processes and enable seamless exchange of data between applications, businesses, customers and partners in real-time.

Describe the objectives of the role here (2 - 3 sentences only)

In this role, you will lead our global middleware solution development and operation (DevOps) team as a product owner. The team task  - in accordance with business requirements and enterprise architecture - to integrate BASF businesses with external partners, drive efficiencies, and drive BASF’s e-share. You ensure standardized, runnable, supportable, and stable solutions from a technical point of view.

Main Tasks / Scope of Work

Consulting tasks

• Guides the  middleware DevOps team together with the product manager and product architect

• Create the  Product Roadmap and  align it with the organizational and internal Business Partner goals

• Tackle with the Product Manager product-related impediments to provide the  best possible environment for the team to perform at its best.

• Consults the BPI team in technical application questions during the solution design and functional specification phase

• Provides effort estimation for realization and contributes to project planning

• Creates Technical Design Document supported by the Business

• Performs configuration and development in systems (e.g. customizing in SAP and / or KAFKA and SAP HANA DB, or in technology stack e.g. java) 

• Manage development activities (internal and external resource planning for development)

• Supports testing and service transition

• Collaborates with support team to identify areas of process implementation issues /continuous improvement

• Translates stakeholder requirements into concrete specifications for different Integration technologies, like SAP CPI, Kafka, API-Management, use of technology stack using java 

Software engineering tasks:

• Focus is software design and software architecture of components and applications.

• Independent development, enhancement, and migration of applications / modules / interfaces / tools / communication solutions

• Integration and testing of software components within the existing application landscape.

• Quality assurance and documentation of software developments.

Edu c a t i o n

• Master's degree in computer science or STEM major with 4-6years of IT or related field experience OR

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or STEM major with 6-8years of IT or related field experience OR

• Diploma or comparable training with 6+years of professional experience in IT/application development

• Minimum 6years related working experience , thereof 2 years as a digital product owner.

• Experiencing Agile way of working or  agile implementation approach

• Work experience in an international company is a plus

Our main requirements :

• Experience as a digital Product Owner

• Experience with integration tools like  SAP CPI,  Trading Partner Management,  Integration Advisor

• Experience in  different  integration scenarios (orders, invoices, etc.)

• Familiar with  Azure DevOps (or GitHub or similar)

• Experience in operating/supporting systems as 2nd or 3rd level support 
  ( root cause analysis and provide solutions for production and development issues ) .

• Message monitoring to ensure solutions are performed as expected

• Document test plans and complete unit testing of developed object

• Participate in collaboration on break/fixes, enhancements, and projects

• Broad  overview of integration technolog ies esp.  regarding SAP

Nice to have:

• Familiar with EDI , SAP IDOC

• Experience in any of the following SAP S/4 modules SD, MM or TM

• Familiar with Kafka publish-subscribe principles

• Experience in  Kafka connectors  and integration scenarios  on different  hyperscaler s

• Experience in t ransformation tools like KSQL Streams

• Experience in SAP SLT (or other ETL tool s )

• Experience with  API Management, SAP HANA DB

• Experiences  in AI supported coding and  coding  of  AI agents /AI based communication

• Experience in Cloud Big Data technologies and architectures within AZURE or AWS

• Experience in Java, Scala, Python, MySQL

• Familiar with event-driven microservices

• Certifications in agile , SAP,  Hyperscalers

• Fluent spoken and written English  proficiency
