Quality Manager/ Test Manager - Telecom experience Mandatory (BSS/OSS)Experience Level : 7 to 18 years overall experienceLocation : ChennaiRole Purpose : Ensure end-to-end product quality for telecom software products by defining quality strategy, leading QA teams, and embedding quality across the product lifecycle to achieve reliable, compliant, and customer-ready releases.Role Scope : - Applies to telecom software products and platforms- Covers functional and non-functional quality across build, release, and support- Manages multiple QA teams or test streams- Operates in Agile / Hybrid delivery environmentsKey Accountabilities : 1. Quality Strategy & Governance : - Define and own quality strategy, standards, and KPIs- Establish release readiness criteria and quality gates- Drive continuous improvement and defect prevention2. Product & Domain Quality Ownership : - Ensure quality alignment for Telecom OSS/BSS, network, billing, provisioning, or VAS systems- Partner with Product and Engineering for quality by design- Support major releases, customer deployments, and upgrades3. Test & Automation Leadership : - Oversee test planning, execution, automation, and reporting- Ensure coverage across functional, integration, regression, performance, and UAT- Drive automation, CI/CD integration, and shift-left testing4. People & Capability Leadership : - Lead, coach, and develop QA and automation teams- Drive skill development, role clarity, and performance management- Build scalable and sustainable QA capability5. Risk, Compliance & Production Quality : - Identify quality risks early and drive mitigation plans- Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and telecom standards- Track production defects, RCA, and corrective actionsKey Stakeholders : - Product Management- Engineering & Architecture- DevOps & Operations- Delivery / Program Management- Customers and Business StakeholdersDecision Authority : - Quality sign-off for releases- Test strategy, tooling, and automation approach- Escalation of quality risks impacting delivery or customersSuccess Measures : - Release stability and defect leakage reduction- Automation coverage and cycle time improvement- On-time release readiness with defined quality gates- Improved customer satisfaction and production reliabilityRequired Experience & Competencies : - 15+ years in Software Quality / Test Management- Strong experience in telecom domain products- Expertise in Agile QA, automation, and non-functional testing- Leadership, stakeholder management, and data-driven decision makingReporting & Interfaces : Reports to : Head of DeliveryLeads : QA Managers, Test Leads, Automation Engineers (ref:hirist.tech)
