Our engineering teams own the full lifecycle of high-throughput, high-reliability systems that move real money and serve millions of users across the app.Role Overview:We are looking for a Software Engineer with 1-3 years of hands-on experience to join our backend engineering team. You will design, build, and scale services that power our lending and credit platform - working closely with product, data science, and risk teams to ship features that directly impact millions of users. Our preferred stack is Node.js / TypeScript; prior hands-on experience with Python is a plus, but we care more about strong fundamentals and the ability to learn than a specific language.Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs that power Stashfin's lending and credit products.- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate actively in code reviews.- Work with relational and NoSQL databases to design efficient schemas and queries.- Build and consume RESTful APIs; contribute to API design decisions.- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions.- Debug and resolve production issues, and contribute to improving system reliability, performance, and observability.- Participate in architecture and design discussions, and contribute to technical documentation.- Write unit and integration tests, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.Required Skills & Qualifications:- 1-3 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in backend development.- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.- Hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript (preferred); experience with any other modern backend language (Python, Java, Go, etc.) is also welcome.- Working knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and exposure to NoSQL stores (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).- Understanding of RESTful API design and microservices concepts.- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.- Good understanding of software testing practices (unit/integration testing).- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment.- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).Good to Have:- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).- Experience with message queues/event streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).- Familiarity with fintech, lending, or payments domains.- Experience with CI/CD tools and observability stacks (logging, monitoring, alerting).What We Offer:- The opportunity to build systems that directly impact financial access for millions of users.- A collaborative, engineering-driven culture with fast decision-making and real ownership.- Competitive compensation and benefits.- Continuous learning and growth opportunities in a high-growth fintech environment.
