Data Engineer – Technology Assurance

As Risk Assurance Senior, you’ll contribute technically to Risk Assurance client engagements and internal projects. An important part of your role will be to assist fellow Seniors & Managers while actively participating within the client engagement Similarly, you’ll anticipate and identify risks within engagements and share any issues with senior members of the team. In line with EY commitment to quality, you’ll confirm that work is of high quality and is reviewed by the next-level reviewer. As a member of the team, you’ll help to create a positive learning culture and assist fellow team members while delivering an assignment.

We’re looking for professional having at least 4 years or more of experience. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. Skills and Summary of Accountabilities:

• Designing, architecting, and implementing data solutions using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to efficiently process and analyze large, complex data sets, meeting, and exceeding business requirements.
• Proficiency in developing and maintaining SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) models, including tabular and multidimensional, to support advanced analytics and reporting.
• Expertise in creating, deploying, and managing ETL/ELT pipelines with SSIS and SSAS, ensuring data accuracy and integrity for data warehousing solutions.
• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for the development of interactive, tabular, graphical, or free-form reports from relational, multidimensional, or XML-based data sources.
• Proficient in leveraging Power BI for data visualization and business intelligence, creating dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing and modelling concepts, with the ability to design and optimize data storage for both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
• Evaluating and implementing distributed storage, parallel processing, and advanced query techniques to enhance data retrieval and analysis performance.
• Recommending and building new data platforms and solutions as required, utilizing in-house data platforms, and integrating with external data sources to fulfil business needs.
• Excellent communication skills to convey findings, recommendations, and opportunities to improve data systems and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Exposure working in client facing roles, collaborate with cross functional teams including internal audits, IT security and business stakeholders to assess control effectiveness and facilitate remediation activities.
• Good to have experience in IT Controls, Risk and Compliance. 
  • Testing of internal controls such as IT general controls, IT application controls, IPE related controls, interface controls etc.
  • Design IT Risk Controls framework such as IT SOX.

To qualify for the role, you must have.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in designing and implementing end-to-end business solutions using Big Data technologies and data engineering practices.
• Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Analysis Services (SSAS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Power BI, with a proven track record of planning and architecting solutions based on business requirements using optimized techniques.
• Proficiency with Logic Apps, complex stored procedures, and triggers, as well as experience in managing event handlers in SSIS, and implementing audit and configuration logs to monitor package status.
• Competency in at least one programming language relevant to data engineering, such as Python, SQL, R, or Scala, with a preference for candidates proficient in multiple languages.
• Strong knowledge of SQL for data manipulation and reporting, with the ability to create insightful reports in Power BI and SSRS.
• Expertise in optimizing SQL queries for improved execution speed and efficiency.
• A preferred knowledge in data extraction, transformation, and the development of data pipelines using Azure Data Factory/Synapse Analytics.
• Familiarity with additional BI tools such as Spotfire or Tableau is advantageous.
• A solid understanding of version control systems like Git, as well as experience with JIRA for issue tracking, change/release management, and familiarity with CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps.

Ideally, you'll also have

• Bachelor's Degree or above in mathematics, information systems, statistics, computer science, or related disciplines.
• Relevant certifications are considered a plus.
• Experience with AI/ML is a plus.
• Provide high quality client services by directing daily progress of engagement work, informing engagement manager of engagement status, and managing staff performance.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and use strong writing and verbal skills to communicate facts, figures, and ideas to others.
