We are currently seeking a Sr SQL Database Admin to join our team in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (IN-AP), India (IN).

Sr SQL Database Admin 

Position Overview - Database Admin will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our client applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the SQL Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Airline, Worldport, and Transportation applications including DMGBI, IVIS, CPV, Airhub, TDS, Fueling Dispatch, and related systems.
• Focus on engineering and consulting activities outside of traditional RUN support, with emphasis on enabling application teams for new development and releases.
• Lead SQL engineering efforts for major initiatives such as application replacements (e.g., Airhub), including SQL workload analysis, execution plan review, and performance risk identification.
• Support SQL Server end-of-life (EOL) migration efforts for Airline applications, ensuring proper positioning on supported platforms.
• Contribute to enterprise modernization efforts, including SSRS upgrades and platform enhancements impacting supported business areas.
• Provide advanced SQL engineering expertise including performance tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, and database design optimization.
• Partner with application teams to ensure SQL code, stored procedures, and database structures are aligned with upcoming releases and scalability needs.
• Conduct detailed SQL code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices, proactively mitigating performance risks.
• Support application lifecycle initiatives, including deployments, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring database readiness and stability.
• Act as a liaison between application teams and SQL Engineering, providing technical guidance and bridging business and engineering needs.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise standards for performance, reliability, and operational stability.
• Designs and supports high availability architectures, including Always On Availability Groups and Distributed Availability Groups with automatic seeding, multi-site replication, and read-scale capabilities.
• Contributes to cloud modernization efforts, including Azure SQL IaaS and PaaS design, implementation, workload migration, and platform readiness.
• Supports Azure SQL PaaS solutions, including elastic pools, serverless compute, performance tier selection, scaling, failover groups, and security integration.
• Uses enterprise monitoring and capacity planning tools such as SQLSentry, Redgate, or similar platforms to improve visibility, forecasting, and operational stability.
• Builds scripting and automation solutions using PowerShell, SQL Agent, and custom utilities to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
• Advanced troubleshooting beyond routine administration.
• Supports security and compliance requirements, including TDE, auditing, access control, and regulatory compliance needs.

Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience on SQL Server 2008/2012/Above versions in database administration, in an enterprise environment with multiple database servers is required.
• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
• Experience with database administration
• Experience with incident and problem queue management.
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
• Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
• Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving skills
• Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality
• Ability to work independently, with little or no direct supervision.
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
• Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
• Strong ITIL foundation, Continual Service Improvement and Total Quality Management experiences.
