Job Responsibilities

• Administer and support NetApp ONTAP storage environments across AFF, FAS and ASA platforms.
• Provision and manage storage resources including Aggregates, SVMs, Volumes, LUNs, CIFS shares and NFS exports.
• Configure and troubleshoot iSCSI connectivity, multipathing, initiator groups (igroups) and LUN mapping.
• Administer NAS protocols including NFS and SMB/CIFS, export policies, share permissions and client access.
• Configure and manage QoS policies — Adaptive and Fixed — to meet application performance requirements.
• Implement and manage SnapMirror for disaster recovery, replication, failover and data synchronisation between sites.
• Configure and manage FabricPool for automated tiering of inactive data to object storage, and monitor tiering efficiency.
• Configure and manage NetApp Volume Encryption (NVE), onboard and external key management, and encryption best practices to secure data at rest and in transit.
• Perform storage health checks, firmware and ONTAP upgrades, and preventive maintenance.
• Monitor storage capacity, performance, latency and utilisation using Active IQ, System Manager and CLI.
• Troubleshoot storage performance issues, protocol connectivity problems, replication failures and hardware faults.
• Work with virtualization and cloud teams on storage integration with VMware, OpenStack, Kubernetes or Hyper-V.
• Participate in DR drills, storage migrations and change management activities.
• Create and maintain operational documentation, SOPs and implementation guides.
• Coordinate with NetApp support for critical incidents and hardware/software escalations.
• Mentor L1 engineers and coordinate with OEM support teams.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with NetApp ONTAP CLI and System Manager across AFF, FAS and ASA platforms.
• Provisioning and management of Aggregates, SVMs, FlexVol volumes, LUNs and qtrees.
• SAN administration: iSCSI (FC preferred), multipathing, ALUA, igroups and LUN mapping.
• NAS administration: NFS and SMB/CIFS, export policies, share permissions and client access troubleshooting.
• Data protection using SnapMirror, Snapshot, FlexClone and SVM Disaster Recovery.
• QoS policy design and tuning (Adaptive and Fixed).
• Storage efficiency — deduplication, compression and compaction — and FabricPool tiering to object storage.
• NetApp Volume Encryption (NVE) with onboard and external key management.
• Storage monitoring and reporting via Active IQ, System Manager and CLI.
• Capacity planning, performance tuning, latency analysis and root cause analysis.
• Networking fundamentals for storage: VLANs, LACP, MTU, DNS, NTP and routing.
• Working knowledge of Linux administration; automation exposure with PowerShell, Bash, Python or Ansible is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics or a related field.
• 5–8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise storage administration.
• NetApp certification (NCDA / NCIE) preferred.
