SDE III/Backend Engineer - Java/Python

About the Role:We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to build the core backend platform powering AI agents. You will design and develop scalable distributed systems, workflow orchestration, tool execution services, event-driven architectures, and APIs that enable AI agents to safely interact with business applications.This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring strong backend engineering and system design expertise.Responsibilities:- Design and build scalable backend services and microservices.- Develop REST APIs, workflow engines, background workers, queues, and event-driven systems.- Build reliable backend infrastructure with retries, observability, logging, access control, and fault tolerance.- Integrate with third-party APIs and internal business systems.- Work with AI engineers to enable tool calling, function calling, RAG workflows, and LLM orchestration.- Optimize performance, scalability, and production reliability.Required Skills:- 58 years of backend development experience.- Strong proficiency in Java, Python, or Node.js.- Hands-on experience with Microservices, Distributed Systems, REST APIs, and System Design.- Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other event-driven messaging systems.- Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS/GCP.- Understanding of scalable backend architecture, asynchronous processing, caching, and observability.Preferred Skills:- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar LLM orchestration frameworks.- Knowledge of OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, RAG, Function Calling, Tool Calling, Vector Databases (Pinecone/Qdrant), and AI Agent workflows.- Experience building production-grade backend platforms for AI or workflow automation.What We're Looking For:- Strong problem-solving and system design skills.- Passion for building reliable, scalable backend platforms.- Experience working on high-scale production systems.- Ability to own features end-to-end and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
