About the job
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and integrate AI-based computer vision systems for intelligent identification, classification, and sorting of plastic waste.2. Work with object detection, image processing, segmentation, tracking, and depth-based object localization for real-time sorting applications.
3. Deploy and optimize AI models on edge computing platforms for low-latency and real-time inference.
4. Develop and integrate embedded systems using microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, motor drivers, and communication interfaces.
5. Interface cameras, depth sensors, proximity sensors, encoders, motors, servos, and other hardware with the intelligent sorting system.
6. Develop control logic and embedded software for automated material handling and sorting mechanisms.
7. Work on robotics systems involving motion control, sensing, actuation, and real-time decision-making.
8. Integrate AI perception, embedded systems, and robotic/mechatronic components into a complete automated sorting system.
9. Develop and test communication between embedded controllers, edge computing platforms, sensors, and actuators.
10. Assist in developing algorithms for object tracking, position estimation, motion prediction, and real-time system control.
11. Apply knowledge of machine design and mechanical engineering principles in the development of sorting machinery.
12. Assist in the design of mechanisms for material feeding, conveying, separation, sorting, and collection.
13. Select suitable motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, belts, chains, linear mechanisms, and other mechanical components based on system requirements.
14. Prepare and review basic CAD models, mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly layouts.
15. Coordinate and communicate with external fabricators, machinists, and vendors to explain designs, resolve fabrication issues, and support the fabrication of machines and mechanical components.
16. Assist with fabrication, assembly, installation, wiring, and integration of robotic and sorting-system prototypes.
17. Participate in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, embedded, software, and system-integration issues during prototype development.
18. Conduct system-level testing and assist in optimizing the machine for reliability, throughput, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness.
19. Work closely with AI, electronics, mechanical, and fabrication teams to integrate individual subsystems into a functional intelligent sorting machine.
20. Document designs, experiments, hardware configurations, software implementations, fabrication activities, and test results.
21. Contribute to the prototyping, testing, and iterative development of Plasticure's intelligent plastic sorting system.
