Reports To: Head of Department (HOD) / Dean, UIAHS

Job Summary

The Assistant Professor in Physiotherapy will be responsible for delivering quality academic instruction, leading clinical practical sessions, and contributing to scholarly research within the Department of Physiotherapy at UIAHS. The candidate will mentor undergraduate (BPT) and postgraduate (MPT) students, participate in clinical training, supervise research projects, and support institutional accreditation efforts (NAAC/NIRF).

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic & Teaching Duties

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lectures, practical sessions, and clinical demonstrations for BPT and MPT courses as per university guidelines.
  • Pedagogy & Innovation: Implement modern, student-centric teaching methodologies, interactive learning techniques, and simulation-based training.
  • Student Assessment: Design coursework, formulate internal examination papers, evaluate answer scripts, conduct viva-voce examinations, and maintain academic records.
  • Mentorship: Serve as an academic advisor, supporting students through academic guidance, career counseling, and clinical skills mentoring.

2. Clinical Supervision & Practical Training

  • Supervise student postings in affiliated clinical laboratories, OPDs, and hospital rotorships.
  • Instruct and evaluate students in core practical skills including manual therapy, electrotherapy, exercise therapy, neurological/orthopedic rehabilitation, and biomechanics.
  • Ensure all clinical and laboratory equipment is safely operated, calibrated, and well-maintained.

3. Research & Scholarly Activities

  • Pursue independent and collaborative research projects in relevant sub-specialties (e.g., Orthopedics, Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Sports, Cardiopulmonary).
  • Publish research papers in UGC-CARE, Scopus, or Web of Science indexed journals.
  • Guide BPT research dissertations and co-guide MPT student theses.
  • Apply for extramural research grants, consultancies, and patent filings.

4. Administrative & Institutional Service

  • Assist in departmental administration, curriculum revisions, and Board of Studies activities.
  • Participate in NAAC, NIRF, and internal quality audit documentation.
  • Organize and participate in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, webinars, Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, and national/international conferences.
  • Actively engage in campus events, student clubs, industrial visits, and community health camps.

Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualifications (As per UGC & Institutional Norms)

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) with at least 55% marks from a recognized university.
  • Master's Degree: Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in any recognized specialization (Orthopedics, Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Sports, Cardiopulmonary, Pediatrics, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Ph.D.): Ph.D. in Physiotherapy or related allied health science discipline (pursuing or completed) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: 03+ years of post-MPT academic teaching or clinical hospital experience (Freshers with exceptional academic records are welcome to apply).

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Clinical Expertise: Strong proficiency in evidence-based rehabilitation protocols and patient assessment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills for effective lecturing and student engagement.
  • Research Orientation: Familiarity with research methodologies, statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS), and publication practices.
  • Technical Aptitude: Skill in handling specialized electrotherapy, biomechanics, and rehabilitation equipment.
