Purchase Engineer bridges engineering and supply chain, sourcing technical equipment, raw materials, and machinery. They ensure factories receive exactly what is needed to maintain production budgets and schedules.Key ResponsibilitiesSourcing & Vendor Development: Identify and evaluate suppliers for technical items, raw materials, and specialized machining/fabrication services.Negotiation & Procurement: Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing and payment terms, and issue purchase orders (POs).Quality & Technical Alignment: Coordinate with design and production teams to interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring supplied parts meet strict specifications.Logistics & Inventory: Track shipments, monitor stock levels, and coordinate with store staff to prevent production downtime.Cost Optimization: Analyze purchase reports and drive cost savings through alternate sourcing and value engineering.Core RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering (typically Mechanical, Electrical, or Production).Technical Skills: Ability to read engineering drawings, CAD files, and BOMs.Soft Skills: Exceptional vendor negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.Software: Proficiency in ERP software (such as SAP, Oracle, or Tally) and MS Excel.
