Python Engineer - Agent Registry Integration

We are looking for a Python Engineer to build and integrate enterprise-grade Agent Registry capabilities for AI and agentic platforms. In this role, you will design and implement backend services supporting agent registration, discovery, metadata management, and lifecycle operations within AWS AgentCore Registry and related catalog systems. You will work closely with platform, AI, and integration teams to create scalable APIs and metadata-driven services that enable reliable management and governance of agents and tools across enterprise environments.

As an Engineer, you will become a part of Core Architecture Team and be responsible for the architecture, implementation of best practices in our Digital Engineering Enterprise Platform.
The Platform is a set of services and internet applications that accelerate the development and delivery of software applications by taking care of common SDLC challenges. The Platform provides access and consumption for engineering teams to a set of services, technologies, practices for their development and for operating their application, ensuring a set of compliance and best practices.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain Python backend services supporting Agent Registry and agent discovery workflows.
• Integrate with AWS AgentCore Registry APIs for agent registration, discovery, metadata retrieval, and lifecycle management.
• Design and implement REST APIs for CRUD operations, including create, register, update, list, fetch, and delete actions.
• Define and maintain registry and catalog data models for agents, tools, contracts, metadata, and lifecycle states.
• Implement authentication and authorization controls using JWT, OAuth, or equivalent security mechanisms.
• Ensure API reliability through input validation, schema enforcement, error handling, and consistent contract management.
• Build services supporting agent onboarding, metadata updates, versioning, and deprecation workflows.
• Collaborate with AI and platform teams to align registry metadata with agent capabilities, contracts, and enterprise governance requirements.
• Support migration of registry records from legacy repositories, spreadsheets, or tactical solutions into governed Agent Registry platforms.
• Implement lifecycle management processes covering draft, active, deprecated, and retired states.
• Contribute to MCP metadata integration and Canonical Contract alignment where applicable.
• Produce technical documentation for APIs, metadata schemas, registry workflows, and operational procedures.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives related to agent platform services.

What you need for this

Skills:
• AWS AgentCore Registry hands-on integration (registration, discovery, metadata APIs)
• Agent Registry / catalog data modeling (tool and agent contract metadata, lifecycle states) • Python backend development (framework flexible — FastAPI, Flask, or equivalent)
• REST API design for CRUD operations (create, register, update, list, fetch, delete)
• JWT or OAuth-based API authentication enforcement  

Experience:
• 3+ years of Python backend engineering

• Hands-on experience with AWS AgentCore Registry, or equivalent agent/tool registry platform (e.g., a service catalog, API gateway registry, or similar discovery system)

• REST API development with input validation and schema enforcement

• Data modeling for registry, catalog, or metadata-store systems 

Nice to have:
• MCP server metadata schema authoring (Canonical Contract alignment)

• Migration experience (moving records from a manual/tactical store to a governed platform) • API lifecycle management patterns (draft, active, deprecated, retired states)
