MDM / PIM Engineer (Stibo STEP)

We are seeking an experienced MDM/PIM Engineer to join our team and support the ongoing development, configuration, enhancement, and operational support of the Stibo STEP MDM (Master Data Management) platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining product data quality, implementing new business requirements, supporting integrations, and driving continuous improvement across the Product Information Management (PIM) landscape

The role requires strong technical expertise in Stibo STEP, data modelling, workflow design, business rule implementation, and collaboration with cross-functional business and technology teams.

What project we have for you

The client is a multi-channel retailer of tools and building materials. It has more than 500 branches in the UK, 90 in the Netherlands, 23 in France and 19 in Belgium.

What you will do

• Design, develop, configure, and enhance Stibo STEP MDM solutions, including business rules, workflows, integrations, and user interfaces.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to analyse requirements and deliver scalable, best-practice solutions.
• Define and maintain STEP data models, solution architecture, and technical specifications.
• Support data migration, data mapping, integrations, and production support activities.
• Troubleshoot issues, manage deployments, and coordinate with Stibo support when required.
• Drive data quality improvements through profiling, validation, and process optimization.
• Work closely with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, QA teams, and Product Owners within Agile delivery teams.
• Participate in testing, defect resolution, release activities, and user training initiatives.
• Take ownership of deliverables and proactively identify risks, issues, and improvement opportunities.

What you need for this

• Work within UK business hours (8:00 – 17:00)
• 3+ years of experience with Stibo STEP MDM development and configuration .
• Hands-on experience with STEP version upgrades/migrations.
• Experience assessing customizations, extensions, integrations and configurations during upgrades.
• Experience with upgrade testing, validation and post-upgrade troubleshooting.
• Experience with the complete product lifecycle: 
  Supplier → STEP → Enrichment → Validation → Approval → Downstream Systems → Website/Channels
• Understanding of the integrations required across this lifecycle.  
• Strong hands-on experience configuring:
  • Digital asset management
  • Business Rules
  • Workflow routing and queue design:
  • Import/Export Processes
  • Web UI Components
  • STEP Endpoints
• Proficiency in:
  • JavaScript
  • XML 
• Experience with:
  • Data Modelling
  • Data Migration
  • Data Profiling
  • Data Quality Management
  • Release management and deployment processes
• Understanding of enterprise application integrations and interfaces (batch, real-time, near real-time). 
• Experience implementing data quality controls, including profiling, validation rules, and completeness checks.
• Experience establishing technical standards, conducting peer reviews, and promoting engineering best practices.
• Experience working in Agile environments.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) experience.
