Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Commis 1 to join our culinary team at our restaurant in Mysuru, India. As a Commis 1 specializing in Continental Cuisine, you will work under the guidance of senior kitchen staff to prepare ingredients, maintain kitchen stations, and support the overall food preparation process. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills while working in a professional kitchen environment focused on delivering high-quality Continental dishes.

• Prepare and organize ingredients according to mise en place standards and recipe specifications
• Perform basic food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients with precision and consistency
• Maintain assigned kitchen station in a clean, organized, and efficient manner
• Assist in the cooking and plating of Continental cuisine dishes under supervision
• Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
• Support senior chefs and kitchen staff in executing daily kitchen operations
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely food service
• Monitor inventory of assigned station and report shortages to supervisory staff
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and appropriately, including ovens, stovetops, and food preparation tools
• Contribute to a positive and professional kitchen environment through teamwork and communication

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a kitchen environment or culinary training program
• Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic food preparation techniques
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately and consistently
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a kitchen brigade
• Familiarity with Continental cuisine preparation methods (preferred)
• Food Safety Certification or equivalent knowledge (preferred)
• Proficiency in kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and procedures

Additional Information

Prior experience working with Opera or a related system
Fluency in English
Additional languages are a plus
