About The Role This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to join the agile, fast-paced and exciting integrated team that advises partners on opportunities for Production Management, Depletion Management, and Area Development Planning to improve production and recovery from this field. The successful candidate will lead core activities within an integrated group of bp and partners subsurface staff and constantly collaborating with other departments and the India Shareholding team to define and progress the implementation of the short and long-term plans. As a Petroleum Engineer, you will be responsible for improving oil and gas production safely and efficiently by handling wells, production systems, and surveillance data, while working closely with subsurface, wells and operations teams across the 4 chokes (reservoir, wells, plant and export). What You Will Deliver
- Promote a strong safety culture, recognize the HSE impact on all works, communicate as appropriately to possible collaborators. Ensure all programs evaluated for potential hazards during the execution.
- Enhance utilization of area wellstock and production/ injection systems to deliver production target. Understand well set's technical production forecast and well set's contribution to business target.
- Perform artificial lift (gas lift, ESP), well, and wellhead platform (WHP) site optimization.
- Deeply understand well operating performance; maintain well performance models, and support surface system understanding.
- Execute and analyze all surveillance in compliance with the surveillance plan. Communicate outcomes to appropriate stakeholders (Reservoir Engineer, Subsurface Team, Wells Engineer)
- Understand and minimize reservoir & wells related production and injection impacts including well losses/deferrals from shut in wells, pressure restrictions and bottlenecks. Understand reservoir losses/deferrals from non-optimal injection, conformance issues, etc.
- Shape and deliver rate adding activity by populating the rate adding hopper with options and understanding basis of prioritization.
- Perform routine well ownership requirements.
- Quality controls all well information including well tests, well events, production/ injection rates and well trends.
- Prepare for and lead discussions in capacity reviews including well reviews.
- Maintain current well information in the appropriate folder and ensure the proper databases are updated for perfs, logs, etc.
- Review and provide quality control for well intervention evaluation tracking system.
- Perform and review long-term shut-in, high GOR well list updates, and other required periodic duties.
- Integrate with Reservoir Management team
- Understand the depletion mechanism and provide PE input to pattern/sector performance, waterflood targets, and other reservoir management issues as appropriate.
- Support RE on maintaining hopper of donor wells for sidetrack options and provide this donor well information to help progress rig options.
- Contribute to subsurface target ideas.
- Provide consultation, as requested, on new well and sidetrack completion and perforation decisions.
- Integrate with Operations
- Understand the surface facility equipment. Work with various operations and projects/facilities/process groups to progress any facility projects which affect the well set including well tie-ins, debottlenecking, well meter repairs, etc.
- Understand metering equipment and any issues, perform any updates or other metering inputs as required, and lobby for metering improvements where needed.
- Batchelor/Master's degree in Engineering or Science
- Great communication and integrations skills. Ability to communicate complex subsurface topics to team members across multiple functions.
- Experience with offshore operations.
- Proficient with system modeling and optimization.
- Experience with planning and executing well interventions.
- Understanding of flow assurance risks (hydrates, scale, asphaltenes) and management strategies.
- Ability to handle multiple activities and to quickly respond to changing business priorities and make value and risk-based prioritization decisions.
- HSE: Uphold and demonstrate safety leadership behaviours.
- Strong technical contributor: Broad production operations experience, proven integration, optimization and monitoring across 4-chokes (Reservoir, Wells, Plant, Export) and strong track record of delivery.
- Digital tools: Working knowledge of Petroleum Engineering toolkit inc. Integrated Production Modelling e.g. PETEX. Experience in use of data analytics.
- Skillful Communicator: Ability to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary, operational and leadership teams with track record of sharing takeaways. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Natural Integrator: Able to listen to different perspectives, adapt and identify how to converge different points of view in an integrated solution.
- Agile: Ability to handle and prioritize multiple activities, quickly respond to changing business priorities and cope with short-term deadlines.
- Learning: Strong desire to further develop and learn new skills
- Minimum 6+ years' experience as Petroleum Engineer, with experience in production management and operations engineering.
- Pressure transient analysis (PTA), downhole flow control, reservoir and well integrity management and sand management.
- Gas reservoir management experience and/or waterflood management.
