Role Overviews & Responsibilities as Character Artist

1. Lead Character Artist (7+ Years of Experience)

As a Lead Character Artist, you will serve as the artistic pillar for our character pipelines. You will bridge the gap between creative direction and technical execution, guiding a talented team of artists while producing benchmark character models.

• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, inspire, and mentor junior and senior character artists, providing constructive feedback and ensuring artistic consistency across all assigned projects.
• Pipeline Management: Collaborate closely with producers, technical directors, and clients to establish efficient workflows, schedule milestones, and resolve technical blockers.
• AAA Asset Creation: Sculpt, model, texturing, and implement top-tier human, creature, and stylized characters adhering strictly to target engine constraints (Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.).
• Quality Control: Maintain the ultimate standard of quality control, reviewing meshes, UV layouts, texture maps, and skinning/rigging setup before final client delivery.

2. Senior Character Artist (5+ Years of Experience)

As a Senior Character Artist, you will translate complex 2D concepts into breathtaking, production-ready 3D characters that breathe life into virtual worlds.

• High-End Modeling & Texturing: Create hyper-realistic or stylized characters, outfits, armor, and accessories using industry-standard software like ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, and Marvelous Designer.
• Optimization & Integration: Build optimized game-ready topologies with clean edge loops, efficient UV unwrapping, and high-fidelity texture sets that perform seamlessly in-engine.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with riggers, animators, and technical artists to guarantee deformation quality and mesh performance.
• Problem Solving: Proactively troubleshoot complex technical challenges related to high-poly-to-low-poly baking, shader setups, and clothing simulations.

Core Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience Threshold: Minimum of 7+ years for Lead positions and 5+ years for Senior positions within the game development or cinematic VFX industry.
• Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in ZBrush, Autodesk Maya (or Blender), Substance 3D Painter, Marvelous Designer, and Marmoset Toolbag. Game engine integration experience (Unreal Engine) is a strong plus.
• Artistic Foundation: Exceptional understanding of human anatomy, silhouette, organic forms, clothing folds, hard-surface precision, material definition, and color theory.
• Portfolio Requirement: A stellar portfolio showcasing current, high-end AAA character art production pieces with clear breakdowns of wireframes, textures, and high-poly sculpts.
• Work Ethic & Communication: Outstanding communication skills, professional resilience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, on-site studio environment.
