Senior Data Engineer

Amgen seeks a Senior Databricks Platform Engineer to lead the design, governance, and enterprise enablement of the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership to build secure, scalable, and cost-efficient data capabilities across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead Databricks platform roadmap, reference architecture, standards, and operating model development
- Evaluate Databricks features and third-party technologies through structured assessments and proofs of concept
- Design and enforce security guardrails covering identity, access controls, encryption, and data protection
- Build reusable frameworks, APIs, automation workflows, and reference implementations using Terraform and Databricks tooling
- Establish platform observability through SLOs, KPIs, dashboards, and alerts for reliability and cost
Requirements
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
- Deep expertise in Databricks platform architecture and administration
- Strong AWS cloud infrastructure and networking knowledge
- Advanced security, identity management, and governance experience
- Proficiency with Terraform, SDKs, REST APIs, and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Demonstrated experience with FinOps, cost optimization, and observability frameworks
- Knowledge of ML/AI platforms, feature stores, and responsible AI practices
