Data Consultant with Tableau - Deep understanding over surface knowledge — candidates should know how tools work ( Tableau, Oracle, SQL ), not just how to click through them. Multiple senior candidates with good “experience” failed basic questions because they only knew the interface, not the underlying architecture.
Solid SQL fundamentals are non-negotiable — ability to write/debug queries, understand joins, and know how to read an Oracle explain plan (not deep performance tuning/DBA-level indexing work).
Banking/financial services experience preferred — because the data model (party relationships, dimensions, counterparty, hedging, accounts) uses banking-specific concepts and jargon candidates need to already grasp. This will help folks to take decision where to look data (master Dimension table, Transaction table etc)
