Position Overview

Eastman’s Hyderabad Engineering Center is seeking Instrumentation Engineering Intern to support instrumentation and control engineering activities for capital projects involving new chemical manufacturing facilities and for modifications, upgrades, and improvements to existing plants. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, the intern will assist with design development, engineering calculations, drawings, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Scope of Role/Project Deliverables

• Primary project: Support engineering activities for capital projects involving new chemical manufacturing facilities and/or for modifications, upgrades, and improvements to existing plants under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Key deliverables: Instrumentation design inputs, instrument indexes, data sheets, specifications, control-loop documentation, drawings, calculations, equipment or device evaluations, and related project documentation.
• Timeline: Work will progress through project orientation, requirements review, design or analysis support, review and revision, and final documentation or presentation during the six-month internship.
• Success metrics: Safe and ethical execution; accuracy and quality of work; completion of agreed deliverables; effective collaboration; responsiveness to feedback; clear technical communication; adherence to Eastman requirements.
• Resources provided: Guidance from senior engineers and project teams, applicable literature, engineering standards and procedures, relevant software and systems, and access to mentoring and learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers with instrumentation and control system design, engineering calculations, drawings, models, and project deliverables.
• Support preparation and maintenance of instrument indexes, data sheets, specifications, control-loop information, equipment or device data, and other technical documents.
• Review project requirements, identify relevant data and constraints, and assist in developing practical technical solutions under supervision.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural, and project management teams to support integrated and compatible designs.
• Participate in design reviews, meetings, site or project discussions, and presentations; incorporate review comments and communicate progress or concerns.
• Follow Eastman safety, environmental, quality, information protection, and engineering requirements, and promptly raise safety, quality, or compliance concerns.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electronics Engineering, or a related field – due to graduate in 2027
• Foundational knowledge of instrumentation, process measurement, control systems, sensors, control valves, and engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with instrumentation and control engineering software, CAD tools, or related applications is an advantage.
• Familiarity with applicable engineering standards, codes, and practices is an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, communication, and technical learning skills, with attention to accuracy and quality.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
