IBM AS400/DB2 Developer - IT Operations

Role Overview :We are seeking a seasoned IBM i (AS400) DB2 Developer to join our core engineering team in Bangalore. In this capacity, you will serve as a technical anchor for our legacy modernization and database optimization initiatives, working closely with cross-functional product teams and global stakeholders to ensure high-performance data delivery. You will be responsible for architecting robust database solutions, streamlining complex business logic, and ensuring the seamless integration of our iSeries ecosystem with modern enterprise applications. Your work will directly influence the scalability and reliability of our mission-critical systems, providing a stable foundation for our business operations and enhancing the overall experience for our end users.Key Responsibilities :- Design and implement complex stored procedures and triggers within DB2 to automate business workflows and improve data integrity for our core financial modules.- Lead data modeling efforts to restructure legacy schemas, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with evolving business requirements.- Collaborate with application developers to refactor and optimize RPG programs, reducing technical debt and enhancing system throughput.- Perform deep-dive performance tuning on SQL queries and database objects to minimize latency and maximize resource efficiency for high-volume transactions.- Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews to maintain high engineering standards and foster a culture of technical excellence across the team.Required Skillset :- Demonstrated expertise in developing and maintaining complex applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform, with a deep understanding of DB2 database architecture.- Advanced proficiency in SQL and RPG (ILE/Free-form), with a proven ability to write performant, maintainable code for large-scale enterprise environments.- Strong analytical skills in data modeling and database design, capable of translating complex business needs into efficient technical schemas.- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical constraints and solutions to non-technical stakeholders and cross-functional teams.- Proven track record of working effectively in a hybrid work environment, demonstrating self-motivation and the ability to manage complex projects independently.- A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, complemented by 8 - 12 years of hands-on experience in iSeries development.
