HiWox is building a personalised healthcare and wellness intelligence ecosystem that collects, structures and analyses data across 9 wellness dimensions to generate evidence-backed, explainable and personalised recommendations.

We are building a Healthcare Operating System combining healthcare science, biological data, technology, devices and expert knowledge through a structured intelligence engine.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Bioinformatics Engineer to help build the computational and biological data layer of HiWox.

The role will focus on biological data analysis, biomarker interpretation, health-data pipelines, scientific modelling and translating complex biological information into structured, usable intelligence for the HiWox platform.

Key Responsibilities1. Biological Data Analysis

• Analyse and interpret biological and health-related datasets.

• Work with biomarker, laboratory, genetic, physiological and other biological datasets where relevant.

• Identify meaningful patterns, correlations and relationships between biological parameters.

• Develop structured frameworks for biological and health-data interpretation.

2. Biomarker & Clinical Data Frameworks

• Define and organise clinically relevant biomarkers and biological parameters.

• Map laboratory and biological measurements to relevant wellness dimensions.

• Support interpretation of reference ranges, trends and relationships between parameters.

• Develop structured rules for identifying meaningful changes and patterns.

3. Bioinformatics Pipelines

• Design and develop reproducible pipelines for biological and healthcare data.

• Clean, preprocess, transform and standardise complex datasets.

• Establish data-quality and validation processes.

• Automate recurring biological-data analysis workflows.

4. Healthcare Intelligence Engine

• Convert biological and scientific knowledge into structured computational logic.

• Collaborate with Healthcare Scientists and Data Scientists to develop explainable rules and analytical frameworks.

• Support scoring, segmentation, pattern detection and personalised recommendation systems.

• Ensure biological interpretations remain evidence-backed and scientifically defensible.

5. Multi-Source Health Data Integration

• Work with data generated from clinical tests, laboratory reports, wearables, sensors and other health technologies.

• Develop standardised structures for integrating heterogeneous health data.

• Support longitudinal analysis of individual health and wellness data.

• Identify relationships between biological measurements and behavioural/lifestyle data.

6. Research & Scientific Validation

• Conduct bioinformatics and computational biology research relevant to HiWox.

• Review scientific literature and emerging technologies.

• Validate analytical methods and biological interpretations.

• Support research collaborations with universities, laboratories, hospitals and research institutions.

7. Data Science & Technology Collaboration

• Work closely with Data Scientists, Healthcare Scientists, Product Owners and Developers.

• Translate biological requirements into technical specifications.

• Support development of APIs, databases and computational workflows where required.

• Help ensure biological intelligence can be integrated into the HiWox product.

8. R&D & Intellectual Property

• Identify opportunities for proprietary computational methods, biological-data frameworks and analytical systems.

• Maintain technical and scientific documentation.

• Contribute to R&D projects, publications, patents and potential IP development.

• Explore emerging areas such as multi-omics, computational biology and digital biomarkers where relevant to HiWox.

Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Genomics, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering or a related field.

• Strong programming skills in Python, R or similar languages.

• Experience with biological/clinical datasets and computational analysis.

• Understanding of statistics, databases, data pipelines and biological data interpretation.

• Familiarity with genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics or other omics data is an advantage.

• Strong research and scientific documentation skills.

• Ability to work across healthcare, biology, data science and technology teams.

• Interest in digital health, preventive healthcare and personalised health intelligence.

Engagement

• Equity-based founding position.

• Part-time contribution: approximately 20–25 hours/week.

• Remote/hybrid engagement.

• No fixed salary at the current stage.

• Fixed compensation will be introduced after funding and revenue stabilisation.

• Equity will be determined based on expertise, contribution, responsibility, commitment and long-term ownership.

• Core founding members will follow a 5-year vesting structure.

Key Outcome

Build the biological and computational intelligence layer of HiWox by converting complex biological and health data into structured, validated and explainable intelligence that can contribute to personalised healthcare and wellness recommendations.
