ISTResponsibilities :- Operate with a Product Engineering mindset, partnering closely with Product, Design, and Data to shape problem statements, validate assumptions, and deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.- Translate product strategy into scalable technical architecture, balancing speed of experimentation with long-term platform sustainability.- Champion outcome-driven delivery using experimentation (A/B testing), instrumentation, and data-informed iteration.- Influence roadmap decisions by surfacing technical trade-offs, feasibility constraints, and innovation opportunities early.- Own end-to-end architecture for Java/Spring Boot services, ensuring solutions meet functional needs and defined NFRs.- Translate business requirements into high-level designs, service boundaries, and API contracts aligned to domain models.- Define microservice decomposition, integration patterns, and data ownership to minimize coupling and maximize autonomy.- Architect and govern REST API standards: versioning, error models, pagination, idempotency, and backward compatibility.- Design and implement BFF services optimized for mobile/web: aggregation, payload shaping, caching, and latency reduction.- Lead security architecture using OAuth2/OIDC with IdPs; enforce scopes, token hygiene, and secure-by-default patterns.- Apply OWASP and threat modeling to designs; ensure secrets management, input validation, and secure dependency use.- Define data access strategy with JPA/Hibernate; tune queries, transactions, and indexing for performance and reliability.- Drive performance engineering: JVM tuning, GC strategy, profiling, and load testing aligned to realistic traffic patterns.- Design resilience: timeouts, retries, backoff, circuit breakers, bulkheads, and graceful degradation across dependencies.- Establish observability: structured logging, metrics, tracing, correlation IDs, dashboards, and actionable alerting.- Own cloud architecture on AWS/Azure/GCP: IAM, networking, scaling, storage choices, and cost-aware design decisions.- Shape CI/CD pipelines: build, test, scan, deploy, and rollback with quality gates and auditable release processes.- Define testing strategy across unit, integration, contract, and E2E; ensure fast, reliable, CI friendly test suites.- Promote mocking and test tooling (Mockito/WireMock/Testcontainers) to isolate dependencies and improve confidence.- Create and maintain architecture docs, ADRs, runbooks, and operational playbooks for production readiness.- Lead design reviews and set engineering standards for code quality, best practices, and consistent implementation.- Identify and manage technical risks early; propose mitigations and influence delivery plans to protect outcomes.- Drive continuous improvement by prioritizing technical debt, modernization, and refactoring roadmaps.- Partner with product, mobile, security, and platform teams to ensure cohesive, standards aligned end-to-end solutions.- Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies to ensure backlog items are technically feasible and architecturally aligned.- Mentor and coach engineers via reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing to raise overall engineering maturity.- Facilitate technical demos and documentation to ensure knowledge transfer and reduce single points of failure.- Support incident response with root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and long-term prevention through design improvements.- Leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code or similar) to accelerate development, improve code quality, generate tests, and enhance documentation.- Establish best practices for responsible AI-assisted development, including validation, rigorous reviews, security awareness, and IP governance.- Identify opportunities where AI can improve engineering throughput, reduce operational toil,- Evaluate and recommend frameworks, AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code), and modern engineering practices - balancing innovation, productivity acceleration, platform stability, and long-term maintainability.Mandatory Skills :- Design and build high-performance services using modern Java, clean code, and strong OO/FP principles.- Spring Boot: Architect Spring Boot applications with standard conventions, configuration management, and production readiness.- REST APIs: Define REST contracts, versioning, error models, pagination, idempotency, and backward compatibility standards.- Microservices: Design microservices with domain boundaries, service decomposition, and clear ownership aligned to business domains.- ORM (JPA/Hibernate): Model entities and persistence with correct mappings, transactions, fetch strategies, and performance tuning.- BFF pattern: Design Backend-for-Frontend services tailored for mobile/web needs to optimize payloads, latency, and UX flows.- OAuth2/OIDC: Implement secure auth flows, token lifecycle, scopes, and integration with Identity Providers.- Identity Providers: Integrate with IdPs (Azure AD/Okta/Cognito/Keycloak) for SSO, federation, and centralized policy control.- Security by design: Apply OWASP principles, secure defaults, input validation, threat modeling, and secure secret management.- API optimization for mobile: Reduce chattiness via batching, caching, compression, and field selection; design for low bandwidth.- Resilience patterns: Implement timeouts, retries, backoff, circuit breakers, bulkheads, and graceful degradation.- Observability: Standardize logs, metrics, tracing, correlation IDs, and dashboards to reduce MTTR and improve reliability.- Performance engineering: Profile JVM, tune GC, optimize DB queries, and eliminate hotspots under real production load.- Data & caching: Design caching strategies (Redis/in-memory), TTLs, invalidation, and consistency trade-offs per use case.- Messaging/events: Use async patterns (Kafka/RabbitMQ) and event-driven designs for scalability and loose coupling.- Unit testing: Build high-coverage unit tests with clear boundaries, repeatability, and critical- path focus.- Mocking: Use Mockito/WireMock/Testcontainers to isolate dependencies and run reliable CI- friendly integration tests.- Best practices: Enforce coding standards, code reviews, static analysis, and secure dependency management.- Cloud architecture: Design cloud-native services on AWS/Azure/GCP including networking, storage, IAM, APIM, and scaling patterns.- Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes, on managed platforms such as EKS/AKS/GKE.- CI/CD: Build pipelines for build/test/scan/deploy with quality gates, artifact versioning, and automated rollbacks.- Git workflow: Apply Git best practices, and enforce PR hygiene and branching discipline.- Agile delivery: Participate in refinement/planning; translate NFRs into stories; align design to iterative delivery.- Documentation/ADRs: Produce architecture docs, ADRs, and runbooks capturing decisions, trade-offs, and ops readiness.- Mentorship/coaching: Coach engineers via design reviews, pairing, and feedback to raise team capability and consistency.- Hands-on experience integrating AI-powered tools into the software development lifecycle to enhance productivity, code quality, and delivery efficiency.Preferred Skills :- API gateway/service mesh: Use gateway + mesh patterns (rate limits, auth, mTLS, routing) to standardize platform controls.- GraphQL/gRPC: Design alternative API styles where beneficial for mobile performance and efficient data fetching.- SRE practices: Define SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, chaos testing, and incident response processes for reliability at scale.- Platform engineering: Create reusable libraries, templates, and reference architectures to accelerate teams and enforce standards.
