ABOUT THE ROLE
Good Monk is building India's most trusted family nutrition brand.
We are looking for a Consumer Insights Lead who leads with curiosity and earns their keep in the qualitative space someone who can sit with a customer for 20 minutes, hear what they are not saying, and walk out with an insight that changes how we communicate, what we launch, and who we speak to.
This role sits at the intersection of consumer understanding and brand-building. It is not primarily an analytics role. The core of the job is human listening, probing, synthesising and the output is sharper strategy, better creative briefs, and smarter product decisions.
WHO YOU ARE
You have 23 years of experience in one of the following:
A qualitative consumer insights agency you have run focus groups, IDIs, ethnographic studies, or immersion programmes for consumer brands
The strategy or planning function at a creative or brand agency you translate consumer truths into briefs, positioning territories, and communication frameworks
An in-house insights or brand strategy role at a D2C or FMCG brand you have been the person in the room who grounds creative and commercial decisions in what real consumers actually think and feel
Across any of these, what matters is that you have learned how to turn an observation into an insight and an insight into a decision.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
1. Consumer Insight for Innovation & NPD
This is the primary reason for the role. Good Monk has recently launched new products and has more in the pipeline. Before a product is named, positioned, or communicated you will have done the consumer work that grounds those decisions.
Run qual research for new products in development: concept testing, need validation, naming and claim evaluation
Identify unmet needs in the family nutrition space through consumer immersion, call programmes, and review mining
Translate research findings into clear innovation opportunities articulated in a way that a product and marketing team can act on
Maintain a live pipeline of consumer signals that feed into the NPD roadmap
2. Communication & Campaign Strategy
Insights without activation are just documents. A core part of this role is making sure consumer understanding directly shapes how Good Monk shows up.
Build and run a structured post-purchase call programme cohort-specific, with question banks designed to extract motivations, barriers, and language
Extract exact consumer language from calls and research the phrases real people use become the foundation of ad copy, packaging, and content
Brief marketing and creative teams on dominant motivation clusters, key purchase triggers, and perception gaps
Identify where brand perception diverges from intended positioning and what needs to change in communication to close that gap
Mine reviews, support tickets, and social listening for unsolicited consumer signals that complement primary research
3. Cohort-Level Consumer Understanding
We need to understand not just who our customers are in aggregate, but how different types of customers think, feel, and behave differently. You will own this segmentation at the human level.
Define consumer cohorts with clear behavioural and motivational profiles not just demographic labels
Design cohort-specific research and call question banks (new buyers, loyalists, lapsed buyers, cross-sell prospects)
Track how perception and motivation shift across the customer journey from first purchase through repeat behaviour
Work with the marketing team to ensure paid audience strategy, creative angles, and retention messaging are grounded in real consumer profiles
4. Insight Synthesis & Sharing
Produce a monthly synthesis of consumer signals call findings, review themes, research outputs shared with CMO, founder, and relevant teams
Run a quarterly deep-dive on one strategic question: a positioning challenge, a product perception issue, or a communication gap
Maintain a living consumer intelligence document that captures what we know about each cohort updated as new signals come in
Ensure insights do not sit in decks follow through to see that they are reflected in briefs, creative, and product decisions
USEFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED
The following would be advantageous:
Familiarity with Shopify analytics, GA4, or Meta Ads Manager helpful for contextualising qual findings with quantitative patterns
Exposure to cohort analysis or LTV thinking useful for structuring consumer research around the customer journey
Experience in nutrition, health, FMCG, or family consumer categories
Basic comfort with Excel or Google Sheets for organising and presenting research outputs
Earn certifications in these skills
