AS400/LANSA Architect - Legacy Modernization

Technical Skills : - Strong experience with IBM i (AS400) platform.- Expertise in RPG III, RPG IV, RPGLE, Free Format RPG, CL/CLLE, Lansa.- Strong knowledge of DB2 for i, SQL, Query optimization, and database design.- Experience with IBM Web Services, REST APIs, SOAP Services.- Knowledge of MQ Series, EDI, middleware integrations, and messaging frameworks.- Experience with source control and DevOps tools.- Understanding of IBM i security, auditing, and compliance standards.Architecture Skills : - Enterprise application architecture.- Legacy modernization and transformation strategies.- Solution architecture and integration design.- High availability and disaster recovery planning.- Performance tuning and capacity management.Key Responsibilities : Architecture & Design : - Define and maintain the overall architecture of AS400/IBM i applications and systems.- Design scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions aligned with business and technology roadmaps.- Develop modernization strategies for legacy AS400 applications.- Establish architectural standards, best practices, and governance processes.Technical Leadership : - Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and support teams.- Lead solution design discussions and perform architecture reviews.- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies.- Mentor developers and technical leads on IBM i technologies and modernization approaches.Application Development & Modernization : - Drive modernization initiatives involving RPG, RPGLE, CLLE, COBOL, and DB2 for i.- Design API-based integrations using REST/SOAP services.- Enable cloud, web, and middleware integrations with AS400 applications.- Support migration and transformation projects involving legacy systems.System Integration : - Design integrations with enterprise applications such as SAP, Salesforce, CRM, ERP, payment systems, and digital platforms.- Ensure seamless data exchange through APIs, MQ, ETL, and batch processing frameworks.- Define data architecture and integration standards.Performance & Reliability : - Optimize application and database performance.- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity planning.- Conduct capacity planning and system health assessments.Stakeholder Management : - Collaborate with business users to translate requirements into technical solutions.- Partner with project managers and delivery teams to ensure successful project execution.- Present architecture recommendations and technology roadmaps to leadership.
