Safety Steward Competency & Validation
Site: JMD Location: JMD Plants (Shutdowns Projects and M&I activities).
Shift Patterns: 12 Hours
1. Eligibility & Qualification Criteria
Safety Stewards must meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible for the validation process:
Basic Qualification Experience (Post-Safety Cert.) Mandatory Safety Certification Validation Authority
B.E. / 1 Year 1-Year Full-time Safety Course OR NEBOSH-IGC Induction Safety Coordinator & Site Safety Manager
Diploma
(Eng.*) 2 Years 1-Year Full-time Safety Course OR NEBOSH-IGC Induction Safety Coordinator & Section Safety Manager
. 4 Years 1-Year Full-time Safety Course OR NEBOSH-IGC Induction Safety Coordinator & Section Safety Manager

*Discipline Restriction: Safety Stewards with Civil or Electrical backgrounds must be assigned strictly to their respective departments (CES-Civil/Electrical or Maintenance). They are not permitted to supervise general mechanical or process-related M&I tasks.
2. Roles & Responsibilities
The Safety Steward serves as the primary field guardian for safety compliance:
Daily Monitoring: Conduct daily safety observations. Maintain precise records in physical logbooks and digital platforms (MS Forms/Google Forms).
Permit Verification: Ensure 100% compliance for all Permit-to-Work (PTW) types including Work at Height Hot Work Confined Space and Scaffolding.
TBT Management: Attend and sign Toolbox Talk (TBT) sheets to verify the quality and reach of daily safety briefings.
Specialized Supervision: Monitor high-risk activities involving Manlifts (EWP) sludge removal equipment cleaning and use of intrinsically safe tools.
Emergency Preparedness: Verify that rescue plans are briefed and emergency equipment (stretchers SCBA first aid kits) is immediately available and functional.
Stop Work Authority: Empowered to immediately halt any activity involving unsafe conditions or non-compliance.
Reporting: Report all deviations and critical observations to the RIL Safety Manager daily.
3. Mandatory Training Modules
All Safety Stewards must complete the following training on Day 1 of mobilization:

4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The performance of the Contractor and their Safety Stewards will be evaluated based on:
Safety: Zero injuries to personnel and zero damage to nearby equipment.
Compliance: 100% adherence to PPE protocols and safety procedures.
Environment: Zero spillage or environmental incidents during line/flange opening.
Reliability: 100% availability of agreed resources at the job site at all times.
