We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of  Senior Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist

We are on a mission to reshape how software is built at HSBC — leading the design and development of a next-generation application platform that delivers best-in-class tooling, seamless automation, and an uncompromising developer experience, empowering thousands of engineers to move faster, build smarter, and operate with confidence at scale . 

In this role, you will

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications. Utilize Kubernetes for deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs. Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
• Institute state of the art hosting platforms, promote technology sharing and leverage operating environments to achieve greater cost efficiency. Provide senior management with overall comfort level and technological positioning of the company relative to the mission and industry.
• Lead and develop an effective engineering team through collaboration, communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.
• Create a sustainable and high performing Engineering organization that is focused on improving compliance to shared OKRs and customer experience
• Positively influence others to achieve results that support the outcomes of the programme and of the wider bank in general
• Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Understand ethical behaviour and business practices, and ensure that own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the bank.

To be successful , you will 

• A strategic leader with deep knowledge of the financial services industry and global marketplace. A broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories and practices relevant to technology
• Subject matter expert in Kubernetes and DevSecOps Practices. Requires very strong abilities in critical thinking, creativity, and innovation in developing new concepts, theories, and products to address complex and strategic issues
• Delivery of Complex Change: Have consistently demonstrated the successful management and delivery of complex transformational change both regionally and globally
• Operational Resilience: Have shown strong ability to adapt and operate through disruptive change. Agile critical thinker able to lead through change at pace and with resilience.
• Experience with solution design for technical platforms within a complex industry Strong hands-on skills in Java based micro-service architectures. Solid working experience in Agile development framework and familiar with Agile tools. Proven track record in driving continuous improvement
• Self-driven and capable of work proactively, collaboratively and effectively with geographically dispersed teams. Help drive good engineering culture and practices through hands on development through short term embedding in delivery teams
• Ability to write testable, maintainable code including Unit and Regression Tests. In-Depth understanding of the Kubernetes ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration. Familiarity with Node.js and Go-Lang is an added advantage. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to troubleshoot issues in Test and Production environment and prepare RCA.
