Senior Accountant manages complex accounting operations, ensures regulatory compliance, and oversees financial reporting. They analyze financial data, manage month- and year-end closes, prepare tax returns, and often supervise junior accounting staff to support business strategy.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or local regulatory frameworks.Ledger & Reconciliations: Maintain the general ledger and reconcile complex balance sheet and income statement accounts.Auditing & Compliance: Coordinate internal and external audits, compile required documentation, and ensure compliance with financial laws.Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist management in the budgeting process, perform variance analysis (budget vs. actuals), and identify trends to guide forecasting.Tax Management: Prepare and file tax returns, and ensure organizational compliance with all tax and regulatory filings.Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor junior accountants and bookkeepers, reviewing their work for accuracy.Requirements & QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent (e.g., Chartered Accountant - CA) is highly preferred.Experience: Typically 3 to 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or corporate finance.Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial reporting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.Knowledge: Deep understanding of accounting principles, corporate finance, and risk assessment procedures
